JDRF was built on the concept that people passionate for a cure can make a real difference by giving of their time and talent. As a volunteer, you are an invaluable asset to the success of our organization. Ultimately it is the passion of our volunteers that set JDRF’s tone and agenda. This has been true since the organization was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with type 1 diabetes, determined to find a cure for this disease. Now we number tens of thousands of volunteers working through more than 100 chapters, branches, and affiliates in the United States and around the world.
Help out at the office
There are always packets to assemble, envelopes to stuff and files to organize! Help us out in the office at your convenience between the hours of 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Mondays- Fridays.
Work at an event
JDRF Austin hosts two major events each year that require lots of help from volunteers and the community! Volunteers are needed to help set up, work a variety of areas during the events and clean up.
Walk to Cure Diabetes
brings the entire community together for a family friendly event filled with costumes, carnival games and music. Volunteers help with registering walkers, handing out t-shirts, passing out water and more!
Hope for the Holidays
is a premiere evening event that includes live and silent auctions, dinner, dancing and musical entertainment. Volunteers are vital to the success of this evening. Volunteers help with set up, registration, silent and live auction.
Serve on a committee
Serving on a volunteer committee is a way to be more actively involved with JDRF all year long. Help plan our Walk day activities with the Walk Committee, solicit items for our event auctions with the Gala Committee, or help recruit community partners by serving on the Corporate Relations Committee.
Help with our Outreach Efforts
Be a mentor to a newly diagnosed family or individual, help raise awareness and money in the schools through the Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes program, or start a social network or support group in your area.
Be an Advocate!
Get your family, friends, and business involved
There are plenty of other ways to get involved with JDRF. Make a gift of your printing or design services, contribute your photography skills. Donate a company service or product- or an item for our live and silent auctions.
